I Think This is the End

I believe my fit of audiophilia nervosa has played itself out. I added a HiFi Rose RS130 streamer, not really because I felt any real need for a high-end DAC-free streamer, but because it was there and I think it's cool and also I think it has improved the sound in the main system.

I could be fooling myself about that. But it's a really cool product. Lots of money for a pure streamer, no DAC, no pre-amp, nothing. Oh, it can access and play one's home library if you want it to, as well as access Tidal, but I use Roon for all that. So I'm really using it just as a digital pass-through.

Whether it does that better than a Wiim Pro or a Bluesound Node, both set to pure passthrough, remains to be seen. I think the operant issue here is that I think it does. And even if it doesn't, I just really dig the cool factor. (I know I've used the word 'cool' three times so far, but it's really the best word.)

In the interest of seeing how the whole thing has finished, I created a nifty diagram of the entire home sound system, not just my 'main' audio system, but also the three satellite systems, one of which is in the 'very good' category (upstairs media room), and two that are just kind of simple (Wiim Pro with a pair of powered speakers.)
